Wyomissing Area Education Association

Welcome to the Wyomissing Area Education Association (WAEA). The WAEA is comprised of dedicated educators from the Wyomissing Area School District and serves the families of Wyomissing, Wyomissing Hills, and West Reading, PA.

The teachers of the WAEA are committed to upholding the highest standards of educational excellence and bring with them a broad spectrum of talents and experiences in our effort to educate our students for the demands of the 21st century. We believe in educating the whole child, and we strive to involve the entire community in this worthwhile endeavor.

The WAEA is an affiliate of the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) and the National Education Association (NEA). The Wyomissing Area Education Association represents 158 professionals within the district and provides services to its three school buildings in Berks County: Wyomissing Hills Elementary Center, West Reading Elementary Center, and the Wyomissing Area Junior-Senior High School.

Thanks to our teachers...

U.S. News and World Report ranked Wyomissing Area Jr.-Sr. High School the fourth best high school in Pennsylvania and 340th across the nation, giving our school the distinguished "Gold Medal" honor. We ranked even higher than Radnor and Lower Merion, two of the most highly acclaimed schools in our region.

The Washington Post ranked Wyomissing Area Jr./Sr. High School as the third best high school in Pennsylvania in its "High School Challenge."

The Wyomissing Area School District regularly leads the county in state PSSA scores.

Wyomissing schools are providing one of the best educations a child can receive - not only in the state, but in the nation.

In the 2014-2015 school year, we are working without a new contract but hopeful that negotiations with the district will soon be fruitful.

Our schools are organized and our students achieve at a consistently high level, despite administrative turmoil over the past decade. During this time, our school district has had 6 different superintendents, 6 different assistant superintendents, and 3 different principals in each of our three schools. Despite these challenges, our teachers have taken the lead in giving our children quality, creative, challenging instruction - every day.

Along with parents and the children we serve, our teachers are proud to be a part of the Wyomissing Area community.
